Much like its main competitor, DraftKings, FanDuel was quick to jump in the sportsbook arena when sports betting was legalized in the state of New Jersey in August. While FanDuel wasn’t the first sportsbook to accept bets in the state, it wasn’t far behind, as it launched on September 1.
FanDuel had plenty of experience accepting wagers and providing a top-notch online and mobile experience for players from its time as a leader in the Daily Fantasy Sports world. FanDuel has great offerings for players who wish to place bets online, and they also have a retail partnership with the Meadowlands Racetrack.
Read on for a more detailed review of every aspect of the FanDuel sports betting platform.
Bonuses
FanDuel offers one of the best bonuses to new players. They offer a Risk Free Bet worth up to as much as $500. When you join FanDuel Sportsbook as a new member, you need to place your first bet. If that first bet loses, the site will give you a refund of the amount of your loss, up to $500. The refund will typically take 72 hours to hit your account.
Additional Sports Betting Promos
In addition to this great new player sign-up bonus, FanDuel offers a number of ongoing promotions on their site every day.
Currently, two of the promotions they are offering are called insurance promotions. The first is an NHL Playoff Insurance, where if your team scores three goals or more and loses the game, you can get your money back up to $50 in credit to the site. The second is NBA Playoff OT Insurance, where if your moneyline or under bet loses in OT, FanDuel will refund your bet up to $50 in site credit.
Other current promotions include a Women’s World Cup Bonus, where if you place at least a $25 Correct Score bet on Team USA in any Group Stage game, you’ll get $5 for every goal they score during the match. They also are offering a Multip Sport Parlay Insurance, and they offer Daily Odds Boosts as well.

Banking
FanDuel offers a very nice variety of deposit options through their site and in-person. Their withdrawal options aren’t as vast as the deposit options, but they are still above average compared to some of the other sportsbooks in the market.
Deposit Options
FanDuel only lists a deposit minimum and maximum for one of the deposit options to their accounts, which is odd. Still, there are quite a few deposit options for players.
The first and most common is credit and debet cards. The site also offers an ACH method where you enter your bank’s information into the site. A great option that FanDuel offers is an online bank transfer, where you can connect your financial institution directly to the site via an online portal. This prevents you from having to enter your account information, but it only works if you bank with one of the major financial institutions.
They also offer a FanDuel Prepaid Card and PayPal as third-party options to make deposits. You would have the option to make cash deposits via a PayNearMe, which you can make in person at a 7-Eleven, CVS or Family Dollar. This method has a $500 limit per day and $10,000 limit for a 30-day period.
Players also have the option to make a deposit by sending a paper check to FanDuel’s PO Box in Jersey City, New Jersey, or by making a cash deposit at the cage at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
Withdrawal Methods & Payout Times
FanDuel offers four withdrawal options, and each has slightly different payout times.
The first option is to withdrawal via ACH, where the funds will be sent directly to your bank account using the routing number and account number. It take can up to 24 hours to process transactions this way, and it might take three to five days for the funds to clear in your account once it’s approved.
You can also request a paper check be sent to your house, which will take about five to seven days to process. If you made your deposit via the FanDuel Prepaid Card, you can also have the winnings deposited back onto the card, which can take about 24 to 36 hours to complete. These funds can be withdrawn at an ATM or it can also be used as a credit card where Discover is accepted.
Players can finally also select to have funds withdrawn via PayPal, but only if they made their deposit into their account via that method.
FanDuel’s Sportsbook
One of the downsides to the FanDuel Sportsbook is that, compared to other sportsbooks that are operating in New Jersey, they don’t offer as many markets and sports on which to wager. They offer betting on the following sports:
• NFL
• College football
• Boxing
• College basketball
• Darts
• MLS
• Golf
• NHL
• Rugby Union
• UFC/MMA
• Baseball
• International soccer
• Cricket
• NBA
• Tennis
• Motorsports
• Cycling
FanDuel also features special events such as the Women’s World Cup when they are held throughout the year. While there aren’t a lot of markets available, FanDuel does offer quite a lot of betting options on the sports they do cover.
Line Selection
On the flip side, the lines and odds at FanDuel are some of the most favourable to players in the New Jersey sportsbook market. FanDuel prides itself on this, trying to always offer their odds and lines that are priced slightly better than their competitors. The odds aren’t as great on Live Betting lines, according to some bettors, but they aren’t so bad that you’d be recommended staying away.
Their offerings on NFL games (the most popular games to bet on in New Jersey) and futures bets are also on par with other sportsbooks out there.
Betting on Other Markets
FanDuel lacks wager offerings on exotic markets or other sports that are outside of the major American markets.
Betting Limits
FanDuel does a great job of clearly laying out all of their payout limits by sport and event, which is great for players. They do offer lower limits than some other sportsbooks, though, especially on the NFL, where the maximum payout limit is only $100,000, compared to $500,000 at some other sportsbooks.
Maximum payout limits are $250,000 for MLB, the NBA and the NHL. Interestingly, they have a much higher limit of $1 million on some soccer events. To view a full list of all the maximum payout limits, visit the webpage, https://fanduelsportsbook.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001697868-Maximum-Payouts-for-all-Sports-Markets.
Live Betting
FanDuel jumped right on board with Live Betting options as soon as it launched its sportsbook. In fact, they offer a Live tab on their website and mobile offerings that is dedicated solely just to Live Betting. This is one area of extreme strength for FanDuel, in terms of the number of Live Betting options they offer. There are almost as many Live Betting options as there are traditional pre-game lines.
The Live Betting odds at FanDuel may not be as great as some other sportsbooks, though, but the trade-off might be that FanDuel offers a Live Betting line on a game that another site might not.
Mobile Betting
Not surprisingly, FanDuel has one of the best mobile offerings of any sportsbook in the market. That’s because FanDuel began as a mobile-first company in the world of Daily Fantasy Sports, and this focus has translated very well over to its sportsbook offering.
FanDuel offers both a mobile-friendly betting website that can be accessed via web browsers as well as mobile apps for both iOS and Android devices. The mobile apps are very fast and respond very quickly. It’s a very stable system overall, and it’s very easy to use, which is the key to any mobile app. It’s extremely easy to use the FanDuel app, almost as much so as their desktop version.
Customer Service
FanDuel offers 24/7 customer service that’s dedicated just to its sportsbook site, so you don’t have to worry about getting a customer service rep who is only familiar with the company’s Daily Fantasy Sports offering. You can conduct a Live Chat with a FanDuel customer service rep 24/7, and you can also call them around the clock at (877) 689-0662. If your concern doesn’t need immediate attention, you can also email them directly at [email protected].
Conclusion: An Outstanding Sporsbook Experience
FanDuel is one of the better sportsbooks in the state of New Jersey. While the site doesn’t have as many wagering offerings as some of the other sportsbooks out there, they do offer most of the major sports that are popular in America. The high-roller bettors might also prefer another site, because their payout maximums are lower than some other sites.
Still, FanDuel has one of the more impressive desktop and mobile platforms on the market, and they offer outstanding odds compared to some of the other sportsbooks in New Jersey. FanDuel offers a very wide selection of Live Betting lines, maybe even as many as their traditional pre-game lines.
